In 2017, he led the church to switch to solar power to redirect their financial resources to better serve God and His kingdom. Jim was a faithful and dedicated member of Sunbury Bible Church where he served as deacon and was a driving force behind the building of the new church in Northumberland in 1991. He loved his work and all who worked for and with him and was honored to assist in kicking off the 100th Tomato Season this past fall. Jim retired from Furmanos in 2018 as the vice president of Farm Operations and Dry Bean Procurement. As a proud member of the third generation, Jim believed his role at the company was to pass it on to the fourth generation so they could continue the family legacy and honor God and that his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, would be glorified. After graduation from Penn State, he joined Furmanos, his family's business, and worked for over 50 years in various positions as he tirelessly labored to help grow the company. "Jimmy" and his cousins were notorious youthful pranksters at the family cannery, but later became integral members of its success. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Shikellamy High School and earned his Associates Degree from Penn State in 1968. 17, 1970, he married and is survived by his sweetheart, the former Phyllis M.
